Meet the Winemakers are like buses....non for ages, then two come along at once!!! This is another great winery. Interestingly, in Rias Baixas there are a large proportion of women winemakers. Whilst Martin Codax sounds like a man, it is in fact the name of the winery. Named after the most famous Galician Troubadour (a poet, singer and dancer) that travelled the region in the past.

Today, the winery is headed up by Katia Álvarez (see above), since 2005. She has created wines whch are unique, with a strong identity, defined by the land and the terroir. That´s who they are, and how their wines are made. Their love for the vine and our land shows through in these wines.
I showed these wines at the Galicia & Portugal wine evening last month, so to have them here to explain them is really humbling. This is a treat for me too :-).
Since it’s founding, Bodegas Martín Códax in 1985, it has grown and developed; always supporting its people, its land and its culture. The culture is promoted in more than 50 countries over the world.
A project that started with the dream and efforts of a group of winegrowers is now a reality and it is this reality which has let Bodegas Martín Códax become a symbol of Galician wines inside or outside of our borders/country.
I cannot wait.
See you there. Big Love Matt xxxx
