2018 Wally Sauvignon Blanc, Les Caves de la Loire

£13.50Price

The grapes were sourced from the Anjou area in the Loire Valley, just south of the city of Angers. The vineyards are planted on two different types of soil, the carboniferous rocks and schist in the northern part of the area and the visibly whiter, limestone-rich soils in the southern and western sides of the appellation. The vines are on average 25 years old.

  • Production

The grapes were kept in a cold room at 16°C before being put into stainless steel tanks for fermentation at 14°C. After fermentation, the wine was kept on its lees for three months and stirred to add depth and complexity.

  • Tasting Notes

Lively Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire, vibrating with passion fruit and gooseberry, with an aromatic, herbaceous finish.

  • Food Match

The balance of freshness and roundness makes this perfect both to drink on its own and serve with salads, chicken and fish, especially where lemon is used.
